The North America Mural

Our mural was created to represent the Cornish miners who emigrated to America in the 19th Century, they went in search of new opportunities and to escape the unemployment that had resulted due to the collapse of the copper mining industry in Cornwall.

On the left hand side of the mural we have Cornish miners who have used their knowledge of deep mining techniques to help establish mineral mining in America.

On the right hand side of the mural we have a depiction of how America looks to young people now, through the filter of the press and social media.

We ended up creating a slightly controversial mural showing Donald Trump as a totem pole figure sitting on a hamburger eating a pasty

It was design and created by Year 10 Art  students from Pool Academy Secondary school working with graffiti artist Cosmic and using spray paint techniques

and brush work.
